Information for New Rowers

What to wear:

Comfortable leg wear, for example leggings, shorts, joggers.

Wellies or water safe footwear such as crocs or beach shoes.

(You will be standing in water at some point)

Layers and a wind proof jacket are ideal.

Most choose to wear gloves. Cycling gloves with protective pads are ideal, or something with a grip.

In colder weather a warm hat is a good idea!

Life Jackets:

The club will supply life jackets for everyone. These are maintained annually as required by law.

Water Bottle:

You may wish to bring a bottle of water for hydration. This can be placed within the skiff.

What to expect:

The Cox in charge of your row will give you a briefing before we head out. They are responsible for your safety and will give advice and encouragement during the row.

Depending on how many rowers attend, a decision will be made whether we take out one or two skiffs. Often, we will take out a few rowers and return to the harbour to swap people over. Giving everyone a fair chance.

Ask questions and listen to the tips given by the cox. We were all beginners at some point so club members will be happy to answer your questions.

Where to Meet:

Meet at the specified time at the container opposite the Salmon Bothy. Please see Google Map for exact location. Please do not park within Barclays Lorry Yard. All members are expected to assist with getting the Skiff out and returning it afterwards. We work as a team!

If necessary, valuables may be left in the container and locked up during the row.
